“The Movie Buff Show,” explains Akinseye, “is for the true fans of African cinema. It is a show that celebrates our African movie stars. Each episode a contestant answers questions on an actor they are crushing on for the chance to wine and dine with them. At the end of 12 episodes, the person with the highest score wins the date which will be shown on the finale show.”

Lamenting that “There is a dearth of information when it comes to our industry,” Akinseye says “we need more books, journals, videos, websites and magazines documenting the progress of Nollywood and African cinema in general.”

She calls upon movie actors “to play their part by having functional and well maintained websites” and says it “also helps if they are active on social media.”

The Cambridge University-trained Akinseye says contestants will answer questions on actors such as Iretiola Doyle, OC Ukeje, Kehinde Bankole, Odunlade Adekola, Rita Dominic and Ibinabo Fiberesima during the first season of The Movie Buff Show that is scheduled to air every Saturday at 4:30 PM (Nigerian Time) and 5:30PM (South African Time) on Africa Magic Showcase, Dstv Channel 151.
